The BIG Announcement

Bible for Children promised a great announcement to be revealed at our World Update Banquet. We are adding a new dimension to our 7 major ministries - the world of Sign Language Bible stories. Many deaf people are able to read our regular Bibles stories, but many more cannot read at all. Their heart language is Sign Language.

And every country has a different Sign Language. For example, people in many countries speak English, but the Sign Language is different in each of these countries.

The ASL (American Sign Language) Bible took 40 years to complete for the whole Bible. It is an amazing accomplishment!

This new dimension takes more resources, so we will proceed as the Lord provides. We plan to add Sign Language Bible stories in 45 languages. We have almost completed the first Bible story in ASL. Please pray!

Cameroon (translated from French)

I am a community development facilitator in Mokolo, Cameroon. With this message, I would like to ask you to send me children’s Bibles. I would like to give them to children displaced by the Boko Haram conflict, to students in high schools and colleges, and to those attending Sunday schools. This will help them become accustomed to reading the printed Bible, which is increasingly being misused. - Kermi

Botswana

I am the Founder and Executive Director of a newly established Child- Centered faith inspired organization dedicated to protecting, empowering and restoring the dignity of vulnerable, disadvantage and less privileged Children in Botswana.  I kindly request to know more about Bible for Children. I believe the information shared can be of good courage to empower us to serve children in our nation. - Kefilwe

Cambodia

I would like to ask if you have any books in Khmer language for children to learn about Jesus? - Linda

USA/Pakistan

I really appreciate your website and your availability to share booklets, helping particularly children. I just sent a number of your PDFs to an evangelist in Pakistan, who is freeing some slaves in Pakistan who want to become Christians. Thank you for your ministry.  All need to learn to read, and your resources are super. Thank you for serving our wonderful King. - Paul

Canada

I live in the city of Ottawa. I’m also a Sunday school teacher in my community. In my community, I teach 10 children every Sunday for two hours. I teach them the Word of God.  I’m writing to you today mainly for one reason:  I would like to know if you can help me with resources such as children’s books and children’s Bibles so that I can better teach the children. - Manuela

Democratic Republic of Congo (translated from French)

I am from eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. I would like to receive books for children’s education.  God bless you. - Valentin

‍Partner Highlight

featuring one of our partner ministries

We are excited to add this new dimension of Bible stories for deaf children around the world.

Founded in 1970, Deaf Missions is an international Christian ministry dedicated to clearly communicating the Gospel of Jesus with Deaf people through their heart language, culture, and identity. Deaf Mission serves people in more than 100 countries and 60 denominations, while keeping its focus narrow: creating epic video content in sign language, encouraging the development of Gospel communities, and equipping Deaf leaders by providing access to resources and training in their heart language. In 2020, Deaf Missions completed the first full translation of the Bible in any sign language: the ASLV (American Sign Language Version of the Bible). In 2024, Deaf Missions released JESUS: a Deaf Missions film, in theaters—a feature film entirely in American Sign Language. It was based on an 8-minute short entitled “Uncondemned” that the ministry created as a proof of concept. The ministry’s previous productions include the syndicated children’s television series “Dr. Wonder’s Workshop,” “Finger Food Cafe,” and other children’s videos. They have also produced numerous short ASL-storytelling features. Deaf Missions’ first feature-length film was based on the book of Job.

Their website is www.deafmissions.com. Many sign language Bibles can be seen at www.deafbible.com.

One Billion Bibles
What a celebration!

On November 17th, YouVersion celebrated one billion Bible apps on devices around the world. YouVersion invited their partners to join them in Oklahoma City, so we accepted their invitation and drove down from Canada. (Thankfully, no snow yet on the highways.) My wife no longer likes long road trips, but she agreed to this one.

The celebration started in the morning at Life Church, who had the vision to start YouVersion. There were great presentations, along with much praising the Lord in song. We heard how the first attempt to get people into the Bible was a website, which failed. Then they turned to cell phones, which at the beginning was the Blackberry. Soon, Apple opened the App Store, and YouVersion was one of the first 200 apps on the App Store. The first weekend saw 83,000 downloads of the Bible App, and the rest is history!

In the evening, we transferred to a sports arena that filled to capacity, and the celebration continued. More praising the Lord in song and in testimony. We were treated to an exciting re-enactment of the leadup to one billion apps.  The one billion apps were downloaded over 17 years. Now they expect the next one billion apps to be downloaded in only 5 years. May it be so!

And just think, someone delivering one billion print Bibles to the world would be incredible! That is essentially what YouVersion has done, only digitally.  And the Bible won’t be up on a shelf, but right in their pockets to instantly respond to the prompting of the Holy Spirt.

There are 8 billion people in the world. It is reported that 6 billion have cell phones. This is the way for the future.

We at Bible for Children fully support the goal of getting people into God’s Word, and God’s Word into people. That is our goal for children at Bible for Children.  We have our Bible stories in 95 languages in the YouVersion App.  We met with YouVersion staff the day after the celebration to discuss our desire to have our Bible stories on their Bible app in 450 languages. Please pray!

YouVersion just moved into a new building that houses more than 200 staff members.  It is also a base for 1500 volunteers that help in many ways, including answering emails from people asking for spiritual help. Please join us in praying for YouVersion, and the next billion Bible apps.

1000 Languages

We continue to move slowly towards our target of 1000 new languages for our Bible stories. We are almost Âľ of the way at 734 new languages. Some things slowed us down, but we hope that at our next World Update Banquet we can share some great news!

Please pray for our team here in Canada and our team in India to work well together to accomplish this great work.
