‍2026 World Update Banquet

The last two years we moved our Banquet to noon on a Saturday. This was in response to our Seniors who found it more difficult to be driving later at night. Yet other supporters were working or otherwise busy during the daytime on Saturdays.

So we have developed a plan to satisfy everyone. Our Banquet this year will be held at Faith Church, 386 McGregor Street on Saturday, October 24th, at 5:00 pm. Doors open at 4:30. Everyone should be on their way home by 7:00.

There will be a full course meal with delightful desserts. The cost has been held to $10 (children free).

Oh, and there will be an amazing announcement (or two)! Be the first to rejoice with us!

1000 Language Project

We could have waited for the banquet for this announcement, but we could not wait. (And there are other surprise announcements to share at the banquet). We officially declare that the 1000 Language project, which we first announced at our Banquet three years ago, has been completed! In fact, 1066 new languages have been added.

We are very thankful for Carol, who has been working with BFC for many years. She oversaw this project for us.  And we are thankful for Grant and Esther from Greg's church who joined us for this project. And we are thankful for the team in India led by Sushant who also joined with us to make this project a success. We are thankful for Matthew who created the computer program that was crucial to the project. And last but definitely not least, we are thankful to you, our many supporters who provided the funds to make this even possible

Before we began this project, we had Bible stories in about 450 languages for every people group with one million or more speakers. It seemed impossible to find translators for the many more smaller languages. But then God opened the way!  Now even tribal people with 500 or more members can read about Jesus in their own heart language. But there are still more languages. Will God open more doors?  Please pray.

‍Balinese is spoken by 3.3 million people in many areas of Indonesia such as Bali, Nusa Penida, Lombok, Java, Sumatra and Sulawesi.

World News

South Africa

I have spoken to one of our leaders in our church about the African languages spoken in our country, we have 11 official languages, and thought maybe we could help out with the audio as well as translating. I saw you have a couple of the languages on the list already but they only have a couple of stories under them and assume you do have people translating more, and thought maybe we could help as well. I did tell her it is all volunteer work so there obviously will not be any financial burden on anyone. We do have a Bible college, a huge prison ministry (where prisoners are also studying at the Bible college for their degrees) and a couple of other things.  – Barbara

Nicaragua (translated from Spanish)

I am a pastor, theologian, and chaplain. We conduct evangelism in prisons, hospitals, and nursing homes, and among people struggling with street addiction and orphaned children. For the children, we are in need of Bible coloring books, child-friendly pamphlets, and similar materials.  - Yunier

Ivory Coast (translated from French)

In the name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, we would like to request five free Bibles in French for our children to help them with their personal meditation. Thank you  - Elie

Bulgaria (translated from Bulgarian)

Hello, I read that you send out free Bibles in Bulgarian. I would like to distribute free copies of the New Testament to children from poor families. If they are not free, how much would one cost? Thank you.  – Stefani

Audio Bible Stories

We are thankful for those who have volunteered to create audio Bible stories for many languages. We now have audio for Bible stories in over 110 languages, but the need is great for even more languages.  Please pray that the Lord will touch more hearts to see the vision and to care for the children in their language.

Heart to Heart

I hope you don't mind if I talk about my wife. Mary-Anne has stayed by my side for 55 years, which is really a major accomplishment. And I realize that has only been possible because she was born again to new life in Christ after our first seven years of marriage.  So Jesus gets the ultimate glory.

Her one 'flaw' is that she hates computers. I have a dream that we can be working together for Bible for Children side by side on our computers, hour after happy hour. Not going to happen! But, when we have exhibited for BFC at Mission events across Canada, at Home School events and at Bible conferences in the Netherlands and Thailand, Mary-Anne was right beside me at our Bible for Children booth. She had no problem enthusiastically explaining to person after person the vision of helping children everywhere to hear about Jesus in their own heart language. Hey, is this the same woman?? In fact, she was much better than me!

And of course Mary-Anne excels at organizing and cooking, and she has organized the meals for many BFC annual banquets.

So I have been thinking that I should honour her at the Update Banquet this year. It will be short and I hope sweet.   – Greg
