The fields are white to harvest. John 4:35

A large black cloud hung over the prairie. Rain was near. The golden ocean of grain was ready to be harvested. Working very hard, the farmers worked hour after hour in the sun's heat and under the moon's light. They hardly stopped to eat and sleep. These farmers wanted to get the harvest off the field and into the storage barn before the rain delayed or even destroyed it.

God wants His children to work hard telling others about Jesus before it is too late.

Can God count on you to be faithful today?

Prayer: Make me one of Your workers in the harvest, Lord. Amen.

How shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:14

In a little country church a pastor preached about the need for workers for the mission fields.

'Be willing to give your life to Jesus,' he pleaded. 'Jesus gave His life for you and for the millions who have not yet heard about Him.'

Later, praying in his study, that same pastor seemed to hear a small voice saying, 'I want you to go to a distant mission field. I have work for you there.'

The pastor knew that God was calling him. Today he is a missionary in a foreign land.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be willing to hear and answer Your call to service. Amen.

I have called you. You are mine. Isaiah 43:1

Doctor Helen Marie Schmidt works in a smart new hospital in Cameroon. She remembers when the surgeons had to kneel on dusty dirt floors to do operations because there were no hospitals, only huts with sick people lying on mattresses. Often, the medical missionaries prayed that their friends at home would give money to build a hospital.

God answered the missionaries' prayer. Through the hospital and its staff, the people learned that God cares for them.

Prayer: Lord, thank You I can answer Your call to be Your servant. Amen.

Do whatever He tells you. John 2:5

A lady who wanted to be a missionary worked as a cleaner in the University. She knew she could never go overseas, but she noticed that many students came to the University from Africa, China, and all over the world.

This lady became a friend to many lonely students. She told them about Jesus and His desire to be their Saviour and Friend.

That cleaning lady was faithful to God where she lived her daily life. She was a missionary for Jesus in her home and at her job.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I will look for ways to serve You right here at home. Amen.

Give to the Lord glory and strength. Psalm 96:7

When the offering was being taken to help missionaries, one crippled boy was so eager to help, he put his wooden crutch on to the big offering plate.

The grown-ups in the church, who were not always generous to missionaries, saw the boy's example. God touched their hearts through this and that night they gave much more money than usual.

Even though the boy could not go to be a missionary, his example of sacrifice helped others to give themselves to the Lord's work.

Prayer: Thank You for health and strength to serve You, dear Lord. Amen.
