Serve the Lord with gladness. Psalm 100:2

A boy visited Edinburgh, Scotland. In the beautiful Princes' Street Gardens, he saw a large flower bed in the form of a floral clock. The clock's face and hands were outlined in lovely flowers of different colours.

Later, while planning his own little garden, the boy had an idea. When he was finished, he showed his mother.

'Your flower bed is beautiful,' the boy's mother said. 'And the red flowers spell out the Name Jesus.'

What a good idea. The boy had found a way to make other people think about Jesus.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, that I can do special things to serve You today. Amen.

When you pass through the waters I will be with you. Isaiah 43:2

In Chad, Africa, many years ago, travel was not easy. One missionary making a cross-country trip with his African helpers, came to a river wide and deep. The current was strong. There was no bridge. How would he get across?

'I will get you across,' a strong African said. 'You sit in your bath tub.' He pulled the missonary's metal bath tub into the water and, with help from other men, guided the little tub with the missionary scrunched inside. They crossed safely.

There are many dangers on the mission field, but God watches over His servants.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, that You watch over us each day. Amen.

The Son of God gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20

In an Art gallery, a boy gazed at a famous painting of Jesus dying on the Cross. His mother came from another part of the gallery. The look on her son's face stopped her from speaking. Instead, she leaned down to hear his whisper.

Jesus suffered all that for me.' A tear trickled down the boy's cheek.

'Jesus must love me very much.'

'I never thought of it that way,' the mother said. 'Jesus suffered and died for everybody - He must love everybody very much.'

The boy and his mother were both right, weren't they?

Prayer: Jesus, thank You that You died on the cross for my sins. Amen.

Whoever follows Me shall not walk in darkness. John 8:12

The children stood by the manger in the middle of the stage. They were surrounded by Mary and Joseph, shepherds, angels, wise men, sheep, lambs, and donkeys. Off to the side, the Christmas tree blinked its cheery lights.

'Turn the room lights on,' the concert director commanded. But the room lights did not come on. Instead, the Christmas tree lights went off! Somebody had pulled the wrong switch.

Sometimes, people who try to give light end up making more darkness. But God always gives light and guidance to those who ask Him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus. Thank you that You are the true light of the world. Amen.

Your Word is a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

Billy was visiting his cousin Arthur, who lived in timber country. Going home through the dark woods, he felt just a bit afraid.

'Your flashlight isn't very bright,' he whispered. 'I can't even see the trees.'

Arthur smiled. 'Don't need to see the trees - just the path.' Arthur said. 'See!' He shone the little beam of light right on the path. 'There's enough light to keep us on track.'

Arthur's flashlight is like God's Word, the Bible. When we let God's Word lead us, we are kept on the right path.

Prayer: Thank you, God, that Your Word the Bible, shows us how to follow You. Amen.
