Let us love one another. I John 4:7

'Did you hear about Lisa?'

Margaret gushed out the news to her Sunday School class.

'She's in hospital, getting an operation.'

'Lisa's having her tonsils out,' the Club leader added. 'Now, class, what can we do to show her our love?'

The Sunday School class talked about it and decided what they would do. Can you guess what they did?

What kind of things do you do when you have a friend in hospital?

Soon Lisa was back, happy that her friends had been so loving and kind.

Prayer: Thank You that we can spread Your love through our actions. Amen.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus. Hebrews 12:2

Over a hundred years ago, a young man slipped into a small church meeting in London, England.

The sermon was preached by an old man who couldn't preach very well. He repeated the words of the Bible verse again and again. 'Look unto Me and be saved.'(Isaiah 45:22). That was the verse.

The young man thought about it. 'I can look to God,' he decided. 'And God says if I do, I shall be saved.'

That young man was Charles Spurgeon who became the most famous preacher in the world. But his new life started that snowy evening when he looked in faith to Jesus.

Prayer: Father, I worship You because You love me. Amen.

You will fill me with joy. Psalm 16:11

I know a girl who wanted a stereo 'ghetto blaster'. She had saved enough money.

In her heart she knew God didn't want her to buy that machine. She bought it anyway.

Soon she had very little time for Bible reading, prayer, friends, or helping Mom around the house.

Maybe it was a good thing that somebody stole the stereo from her. She realized what she had been missing out of her life.

When she got back to her regular habits of prayer and Bible reading, she discovered that they brought more happiness than her stereo player ever did.

Prayer: Lord, You give me real joy. Thank You. Amen.

Anyone ... can look ... and live. Numbers 21:8

A long time ago, God took the Israelites out of Egypt where they had been slaves.

Instead of obeying God in the desert, the Israelites complained. God sent a deadly sickness which only He could cure.

'Look at the brass serpent which Moses raised up and you will be healed,' God promised.

Everybody who simply looked was healed.

The serpent reminds us that by looking to Jesus dying on the Cross for our sins, we are made whole in God's sight.

Prayer: Father, thank You for forgiveness through Jesus. Amen.

The Lord is my strength. Psalm 28:7

Johnny sat in a patio chair, enjoying the sun. His eyes were closed. He did not hear Father coming.

Suddenly, Johnny felt the chair being lifted up off the ground.

'Don't drop me,' Johnny yelled. Then he smiled.

'I guess you're too strong to do that, Dad.'

God is stronger than Johnny's Dad. We can trust God's great strength to carry us through life.

Prayer: Thank You that I can trust in Your strength. Amen.
