The Lord said to him, 'What is that in your hand?' Exodus 4:2

Murdo was an old man who lived in a retirement home. Every day, he saw street people going to the nearby park to find a place to sleep. Murdo wanted to do something to help these people. He wanted to do something to show them that God loves them.

'What can I do, Lord?' Murdo prayed. 'I can't bring people here and I don't have money or anything to help them.'

'You do have something.' The thought came into his mind so strongly that it was almost like God actually spoke to Murdo. 'You have your big Thermos flask.'

The big Thermos flask. Murdo had kept it because he and his wife and children had used it so many times for family picnics. Too big for him to use, it sat in his cupboard as a remembrance of happier days. Now what would God want him to do with the big Thermos flask?

'Fill it with coffee and go for a walk in the park early tomorrow morning.' Again, the thought was so powerful it seemed like a command.

Next morning, Murdo was up early as usual. He filled the flask with coffee, added sugar and milk, took ten disposable cups and went off to the park. Within half an hour he had given away all his coffee - and the people who drank it listened as he told them about Jesus and God's love.

Murdo only had a big Thermos flask. What do you have?

Prayer: Lord, use whatever I have to bless others and Praise Jesus. Amen.

The little foxes spoil the vines. Song of Solomon 2:15

The Sunday School teacher held up a large sheet of white paper, completely blank except for a small black ink spot in one corner of the sheet. The spot was about the size of a quarter. She asked the class, 'What do you see?' Everybody got a turn to answer and every body said, 'I see a black spot.'

'Let's take a closer look at the black spot,' the teacher said. The students saw that the black spot was actually the shape of a small fox.

'First,' the teacher continued, 'you all said you saw the black spot. Did nobody see the white? There is a hundred times more white than black. Yet, you all saw the black!'

'Second,' the teacher said, 'look closely at the black spot. You see, it is in the shape of a little fox. I want us to memorize a verse of Scripture today - and remember that the little fox teaches us a big lesson. If we let some little sin stay in our life, that's what people will see. Not the good God has done in us, but the little fox.'

The verse the children memorized? You've guessed it. Song of Solomon 2:15. You should learn this verse too. It will help you to keep your life clean for God.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to keep my life clean for You so people will see Your work in me. Amen.

Be kind to one another. Ephesians 4:2

Rona felt good. Her surgery was successful and she'd be going home from hospital in a couple of days. 'Thank You, Lord,' she prayed. 'Please help me to be a blessing to somebody here in hospital.'

An hour later, another girl was brought into Rona's ward and placed on the next bed. The girl looked puzzled and frightened.

'Hello,' Rona said. 'I'm Rona. What's your name?' She waited, but the girl didn't answer. Rona tried again. 'What school do you attend?' No reply. Just a stare.

At first, Rona felt a bit angry. Then she remembered her own prayer. 'Lord, help me to be a blessing to somebody here in hospital.' So she kept talking to the girl who seemed to relax a little but didn't say one word.

In the afternoon, the girl's mother came to visit. As she passed Rona's bed, she smiled and said hello. When she got to her daughter's bed, she lifted her hands and began to speak in sign language. Her daughter did the same and seemed to have an awful lot to say.

Turning, the mother noticed Rona staring with her mouth wide open. 'My daughter's name is Penny. Penny was born deaf,' she said. 'Penny tells how kind you have been and how much you helped her to get through this day.'

Rona smiled at the girl and said, 'Please ask Penny if she will teach me some sign language when your visit is over.'

How glad Rona was that she hadn't become angry.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to be a blessing to people in my life. For Jesus' sake. Amen.

We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent. 2 Kings 7:9

A huge army surrounded the city and God's people were trapped. They were starving and couldn't hold out any longer.

Just outside the city gates, four lepers decided that they should go and ask the enemy army leaders for food. 'The worst they can do is kill us,' these four lepers said. 'And if we don't go and ask, we'll starve to death right here.'

When they arrived at the army camp, the four lepers found that God had scared the whole army away. The terrified soldiers had even left their money and clothes and food behind. The four men filled their stomachs, filled their pockets, and were looking around for bags to carry more money away when one stopped.

'The people in the city are starving,' he said. 'There's all kinds of food here - enough to feed an army. God wants us to go and tell them.'

And that's what these men did. And the city was saved.

Christians don't have mountains of food and clothing and money to share.  But Christians have something even more precious. They have the Gospel - the good news that Jesus died for all. Like the four lepers, Christians need to share the good news with everyone, so people can become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for dying for me. Help me to be faithful in telling others about You. Amen.

Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2

Everybody was ready to leave for the ferry. Everybody except Dorothy.

'Hurry, Dorothy,' Dad called. 'The ferry boat won't wait for us.'

'A minute, Dad,' Dorothy answered. 'I just have to find my bracelet.'

Dorothy took much more than a minute to find her bracelet. In fact, it turned out that she didn't find it at all. The time she used up trying to find it made it very tight for Dad to drive to the ferry on time. A couple of red traffic lights held them up even more.

When they did reach the ferry terminal, it was too late. Horn blowing loudly, the boat was already pulling away from the dock. Fortunately, there was another boat later that day. But the whole family had to wait five hours - because Dorothy wasn't ready and they left too late.

Dorothy is like some people who know God is calling them to give their hearts to Jesus before it is too late, but they put it off - until it is too late. Don't be like that. Come to Jesus today.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that I can come to You now and You will receive me. I come to you now, before it's too late. Amen.
