Matthew 19:14

Jesus said,“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

PRAYER & PRAISE

PRAISE GOD WITH US

  • For the almost 3 million stories that were accessed in the past six months. We don’t hear about it through the media – but God is at work in the world.
  • For the good progress in fulfilling our Love Asia project. The 6 Asian languages noted in panel one represent the first language of over 637 million speakers. (Low estimate.) Now BFC can provide all 60 stories to that large population.
  • For the faithful friends of BFC whose letters are featured in Mail From Around the World.
  • For Your faithfulness, Lord, in blessing Your Word to the world’s children.

PRAY WITH US

  • For the needed translators in every corner of the world where children need to hear about Jesus.
  • For members of BFC Board, staff, and for the host of faithful volunteers who pray for and support BFC ministries.
  • For His supply of all needed resources.
  • For Carol as she adds 810 new Bible stories to her workload.

PrayerLink

How tragic it is that our entire world is floundering in confusion and strife. How wonderful it is that in the midst of world-wide disarray, we are able to send out the message of peace with God through trusting the Prince of Peace, our Lord Jesus.

Website 2014 (January to June)

Over 2.9 million Bible stories were accessed from our website the first half of 2014. The top 10 languages were English (1 million), Spanish (755,000), Portuguese (266,000), Indonesian (205,000), French (102,000), Dutch (92,000), Chinese Traditional (85,000), Arabic (74,000), Tagalog (46,000) and Chinese Simplified (22,000). We praise the Lord for this door that is still open for His Word to go forth to children around the world.

Love Asia (BFC Special Project)

Our special project to complete all 60 Bible stories in 15 Asian languages is progressing well. We have already received from the translators all 60 stories in Hindi, Marathi, Kanada, Odiya, Telegu, Thai and Vietnamese. We will receive the other 8 languages soon. Pray for Carol with these 810 new Bible stories to complete.

Mail from around the world

Ethiopia: We are serving evangelical churches in Ethiopia with special emphasis on children and youth ministry. I like your Bible lessons. I got your 60 lessons in English from internet. I would like to translate them into Amharic as it is hardly possible to get Amharic picture Bible lessons here in Ethiopia. Would you allow me to do so. It is not for sale. But to distribute them all over Ethiopia. Thanking in advance for your quick response. Abel (Editor : We informed Abel of our Ethiopian website, and he is helping translate more stories.)

Kenya: I am a 37 year Kenyan lady, born-again Christian and married happily with two daughters. I recently moved to a remote Islamic town in ukunda, Kenya where my hubby was transferred. The (local)children go for madrasa in a mosque till 10 am. They are left to roam around because it is too hot in the afternoon. Am home-schooling my child and the children come over to play with her. I have a good relationship with the children. We sing and do a few colouring. I want to know how I can share Christ with Muslim children without being attacked. How can I lead a child to the Lord? How can I get children bibles, friendly to children? How do you worship with children? I have a burden for these kids. Julian

South Africa: Good day! I just want to thank you for the wonderful website you have for our kids, may God bless you more. Kingdom Regards. Meriam

LORD, we thank You for the encouraging mail from your dear servants. Bless them.

Get Out the Word!

We are in the midst of sending emails to thousands of churches around the world, letting them know about the free Bible story resources at Bible for Children. We have begun with the English-speaking countries of Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK and South Africa. Many Christians everywhere are searching for resources in their own language, and they are so thankful when they discover our website.

Our immediate plan is to contact 15,000 churches in 27 countries. This may seem a lot, but there are probably over a million churches on this planet, so we have barely begun. Our email has to be translated into the language of each non-English country.

To help complete this project, we need many volunteers willing to search the Internet to find church email addresses in a country the Lord may lay upon their heart.

Blessing 10,000 Winnipeg Homes

This Fall, with the help of many volunteers, we will distribute Bible story tracts to 10,000 homes in Winnipeg. Each house will receive a set of 6 Bible stories: When God Made Everything; The Start of Man’s Sadness; Noah and the Great Flood; The Birth of Jesus; The First Easter; and Heaven - God’s Beautiful Home. Please pray for a great impact for the Gospel, with many children coming to know Jesus.

What a wonderful opportunity you have to reach children in your area. You may want to tackle a similar outreach in Winnipeg, or in another city, or perhaps a smaller one just on your street. We have full-colour Bible story tracts in many languages. BFC will supply all the Bible stories you need at no cost to you. Just email us.

Bible For Children knows no borders. We rejoice when new inroads are made to people groups where there is little or no Gospel material in their mother tongue. However, we also want to be conscious of the spiritual needs right here in our own ‘backyard’.

An entry in Wikipedia reads as follows: More than a hundred languages are spoken in Winnipeg, of which the most common is English. Other languages spoken as a mother tongue include Tagalog (5.0%), German (2.5%), Punjabi and Ukrainian (both 1.4%). Aboriginal languages are also spoken, such as Ojibwe (.3%) and Cree (.2%).

Further, the 2011 National Household Survey reported the religious make-up of Winnipeg as: 63.7% Christian (all branches of Christendom); 1.7% Muslim; 1.6% Jewish; 1.5% Sikh; 1.0% Hindu; 1.0% Buddhist; 0.3% traditional (Aboriginal) spirituality; 0.4%

NOTICE OF BIBLE FOR CHILDREN’S
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

It’s a dinner (scrumptious); it’s a festival of praise (rejoicing in reports of God’s faithfulness); it’s a BFC family gathering for all who in any way are part of BFC ministries to the world’s children.

Heart to Heart

Over the summer I have been getting behind on Bible for Children duties. Part of this is because I want to spend some evenings with family during our two months of summer. In addition, my day job has required more than regular hours of my time. As I have said before, I could easily spend full time on BFC.

However, God continues to do amazing things without my full time. In fact, I have started to think that maybe He doesn’t want me to give full time. This way, I can’t even be tempted to take any credit for what is happening, and He gets all the glory! Lord, I submit to Your perfect will.
