PRAYER & PRAISE

Call to me I will show you great and mighty things … Jeremiah 33:3.

Thank you for praying for and standing with Bible For Children. Please pray for each item you read in this issue and for the people groups represented. Pray that every tract and every contact will bring the light of life to those who are yet in darkness. And pray for the Board, translators, and all others involved in BFC ministry.

MissionFests across Canada

Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Halifax—a busy time, but we have enjoyed meeting hundreds of people at missions events in all of these cities. Most are individuals who were seeking to know more about missions. They were excited to discover the Bible stories they can enjoy with their children, and they will tell others. We also met other agencies that we can work with in the future.

Our focus was ‘Adopt a Language’, asking for more translators to help reach 1,000 languages. Some new languages were promised, as well as help to finish some existing languages. We pray each will follow through.

At one MissionFest, we were strongly reproved for not having any First Nations languages on our website. We want to assure our supporters that we have tried, and have been promised some languages such as Cree, but we have not received any translations. Please pray for this.

Fifteen Asian Languages Update

We have been working for months to complete almost 1,000 story files in 15 Asian languages. We also are adding the same number of colouring book files, files with 6 pictures per page and other formats such as tract files of the same Bible stories. All the translators are in Asia, and we have to send files back and forth for corrections, etc. This is a massive project for us.

All 60 Bible stories are now uploaded for Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Vietnamese, Marathi, Tamil, Thai, Kannada, Malayalam, Bhojpuri and Odiya. Please pray that people everywhere will find these stories. Please also pray we will soon complete the remaining languages, Telugu, Gujarati, Azerbaijan and Chhattisgarhi.

My church is setting up a library and is interested to make a newsletter with matters related to the word of God. We want to stimulate interest in reading the Bible. I would therefore ask for authorization to use your materials to put in the church newsletter. We may charge a small fee to cover printing expenses. I need your permission and everyone involved on the site for this project to be carried out. I thank you for your attention. Stay with the peace of the Lord. Dionny

To Nicaragua with Love

A medical missions team traveled to Nicaragua in March. Their destination was a rural mountainous area that was far from regular medical help. Medical help was provided in many areas of expertise, including physical therapy and dentistry. The Gospel was an integral part of the mission. In fact, the team worked with a number of evangelical churches in the area, with theological teaching sessions for many pastors. Some people were saved, including one of the team members.

The children were not neglected. An outreach to them included BFC Bible story tracts in Spanish, which the children received with 14 being saved (see above).

Heart to Heart

What is it like to run a booth at MissionFest events? We arrive with great anticipation of what the Lord will do over the weekend. While we set up, we meet and greet our neighboring exhibitors. Then Friday evening begins, and goes real fast.

Saturday is a super-long and very tiring day (9am to 10pm). Sometimes people are just walking by and we try to get their attention to stop and talk. Other times, they make a beeline to our booth, having heard about us somewhere and wanting to know more. We truly enjoy the busy times.

Then there are slow times when sessions are on with very few people at the exhibits. These are the hard times.

Sunday we usually worship somewhere in the morning, and then head to the exhibit for the afternoon. Before you know it, it’s time to pack up and head back home.

But in it all, we love meeting all the dear brothers and sisters all across the country, from the Pacific to the Atlantic. The family of God is a wonderful family ... because we have a wonderful Father. Greg
